I was just thinking about this in reference to who could/would protect Mamdani if the DOJ actually does decide to go after him. Unless he goes full cop and gives them the moon, it obviously won't be the NYPD. It's crazy how much they control that city.

This one is just "his plan to freeze rents will make things harder for landlords," which isn't a factual objection but an ideological one. Given the current affordability crisis Mamdani thinks housing policy should favor renters over landlords. He's not incorrect about anything, you just disagree.
Meanwhile, Mamdani’s proposal to freeze rent in rent-stabilized units ignores fundamental problems: Landlords of much of the city’s rent-stabilized housing stock—including a number of respected nonprofit groups—cannot afford maintenance costs and debt service, the watchdog Citizens Budget Commission wrote recently. Because expenses are growing faster than rents in older buildings, many are “teetering on the edge of a ‘death spiral.’”
