To protect #KillerWhales, we need to understand their communication.

In 2025, Raincoast and @earthspecies.bsky.social unified field biologists, acoustic specialists, and experts in modern analytical methods to study killer whale communication like never before.

Thrilled to announce this ground-breaking new book, Area X: The Southern Reach Files! The Central agent in question is, of course, Hargraves from Absolution. The book includes some new ways of approaching storytelling, and also I hope will be satisfying in lots of other ways. More in a thread. 1/?

Daily reminder -- humans are just one species out of of EIGHT MILLION!
To truly share this planet requires a shift in how we think, act, and connect across species.

This #WorldConservationDay, we're reflecting on this responsibility, which is at the core of our mission, and reinforced by the perspective Christiana brings as the newest member of our board.

a great read for all the Hong lovers out there. hoping his new one plays at #NYFF this fall!!! 🙏
For me, watching Hong’s repeated tales most resembles the vagaries of retrospection. Thinking back on a drunken night, sometimes you remember the good; other times, more often, the bad. You wonder what you should have said or done differently.

so cool!!!
The idea of orcas/killer whales trimming down bull kelp stalks to the right length and then pushing the piece of stem against a partner and rolling it between their bodies is just extraordinary. 🦑🧪

Very much enjoyed reporting on this for @livescience.com
