Enormous impoundment-related changes in Trump/Vought's Circular A-11 update from Friday, which is OMB's guidance to agencies

They:
-removed the definition of impoundment
-said GAO's impoundment determinations don't matter
-claimed pocket rescission authority
-claimed profound deferral authority

UNCLOS generally allows for the interdiction of vessels engaged in piracy, terrorism, or trafficking—but still REQUIRES minimal force and usually boarding, not destruction.

If this US Navy vessel was ordered to destroy the civilian vessel without being engaged, that's just murder. It's illegal.

Let's break this down. I'm a merchant Captain for former USAF officer. The US Navy destroyed a civilian vessel in international waters without attempting to seize/board the vessel and without being engaged in combat. This is "manifestly unlawful". The US Navy has a DUTY to refuse illegal orders.

Demonizing the "other" is textbook authoritarianism.
The GOP assaults these human rights, seeking to make a common enemy out of those they deem to be “other.” Why, you ask? So they can rally around a common enemy, no different than school bullies picking on the “weird kid.”

The thing is, we’re adults, and we don’t take kindly to bullies of any sort.
