Old friend just laid off by USDA, 1 mos short of his probationary period as senior researcher. Brilliant person who left a tenured faculty position several yrs ago to join USDA. Bright early-career researchers also being laid off. USDA is terminating a generation of highly-qualified scientists.

What incredible people! Every week they protest at Swiss Cottage to remove Tzipi Hotovely from the UK. Advice given is to NOT talk to the police which I think is due to activists being arrested under the terrorism act, which is being used to silence dissent.

When Bowie was androgynous, people were mesmerised. Some may also have been scared but somehow I feel we are back tracking. Finding comfort where comfort was not in existence, a memory in black & white, feels familiar but disguises a hoard of pain. It was not better, science made it better for all.
