As a member of the privileged elite, it may make me a class traitor, but I have to say - I don’t much care for Chardonnay (or lattes, soy or otherwise).
Energy Secretary Chris Wright on Fox: "We're announcing today expanded programs to help the American coal industry. We're helping it because for years it has been under assault. It was out of fashion with the chardonnay set in San Francisco, Boulder, and NYC ... coal just makes the world go round."

This has been misheard. It’s a speech on the “Wario Ethos”, which Hegseth came up with after a drunken Super Mario session.
WAPO SCOOP: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered hundreds of generals to travel on short notice from around the world to hear him make a speech on military standards and the “warrior ethos,” multiple people familiar with the event told The Washington Post.

New details emerge on Hegseth’s unusual mass gathering of top brass
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has summoned hundreds of generals for what is expected to be a short lecture on the “warrior ethos.” But top brass is bracing for possible firings or demotions.

Tick, tock.

Lindsey Halligan, the newly-installed prosecutor in EDVA, has less than a week to secure an indictment against James Comey before a key statute of limitations runs out.

Ben Wittes and I examine her charging options.

Spoiler alert: they all suck.

There’s a Simpsons episode where Homer realises he’s stuck in quicksand. He decides he’ll reach down with his arms to pull his legs out. Then, realising his arms are now stuck, he decides to pull his arms out with his face. It is a distraction. But also a new catastrophe which requires attention.
looking through some old posts and stumbled on this. the other day chris murphy said the military occupation of dc was a distraction from epstein. a month ago, they were calling epstein a distraction.
Nancy Pelosi characterizes the Epstein scandal and seeming coverup as "a distraction" from kitchen table issues

@strictscrutiny.bsky.social Loved the new episode, but you really missed an opportunity. In light of the three DIGs this term, SCOTUS needs to be re-branded “The Gang That Couldn’t Cert Straight”.

@strictscrutiny.bsky.social In light of the upcoming decision on nationwide injunctions, can you please explain to non-Americans why KBJ’s questions in oral argument isn’t infallible? Why wouldn’t an injunction against the govt in any district restrain them from engaging in that conduct altogether?

This is exactly the point.
HAWLEY: Let's see the Trump chart. You don't think it's a little bit anomalous that Trump has so many more nationwide injunctions against him?

KATE SHAW: A very plausible explanation you have to consider is that he's engaged in much more lawless activity than other presidents
