The framing of conversations about oppression should never be about whether their targets are people of Good Moral Character™. When you litigate that, you victim-blame, and conveniently redirect conversations away from oppressors and systems that benefit them.

It reminds me of when people are comfortable misgendering a trans person who’s an asshole. It’s an instant sign to me as a trans person that you aren’t safe, and that you view basic respect as a privilege you can take away when we act up.

This is a thing I’ve seen a lot in “progressive” communities, where people cloak misogyny in the language of the left. Some of y’all are just waiting for an acceptable target to come along and it shows. But it’s still reinforcing the same regressive ideologies. It’s also, just like, mean.

I've never had a trans woman tell me to get back in the kitchen, or make a "joke" about how women shouldn't be allowed to vote. I've never seen trans women outside the planned parenthood calling women murderers and whores. trans women have never dogged me out for incorrectly performing femininity
