The term transgender was barely in use back then. "Transvestite" or "transsexual" were far more common. To deny our involvement or existence because of the limited use of the term "transgender" is damaging to our history. The gender expansive community has used many terms used to describe itself.

From my understanding, it's unclear whether Rivera was even there. In my comment I was actually thinking about Miss Major Griffin-Gracy.

Perhaps this person should at least revisit the history of Stonewall? Seriously, the most famous moment in the last 60 years of our history, and she can't even bother herself with the details? I'm so disgusted by those in the queer community who are pulling the ladder up behind them.

Eff this. Trump tries to undermine the entire constitutional order, and we get this tepid response. Trump releases 4 EO's in 3 days setting up a repeat of what Hitler did the Jews when it comes to transgender people. And nothing, no response. NY Times didn't even mention it. Screw these people.

As a transgender woman I have been engaged by the sheepish response of the Democrats and their leadership. The attacks on me and my community are an attack on our democracy.
I am now becoming fully engaged with the party. I'm running for an Elector position to ensure we have quality candidates.
