Thank you, Steve! I agree - I emphasized the value of a follow-up study in the manuscript now that import monitoring programs and fishing bans have had a few years to play out and impact market dynamics. I've pivoted for my PhD and am now doing eastern oyster pop gen ... but the door is wide open!

I am so happy to see this work from my undergrad finally reach publication. I graduated in 2020, although it took a few years given the hurdles of covid, starting a PhD, and getting through the qualifying exam process, I’m grateful to have seen this project through! #AcademicSky

Samples were collected in 2019, just before the implementation a major import monitoring program and a shortfin mako fishing ban in the US. This work has established a temporal baseline that can be used to determine if market mislabeling has decreased from these initiatives! #fisheries #marinelife
