It’s worth noting that adderall and adhd are actually an exception here.
We have a robust model of both how the disorder happens and why stimulants treat it down to the neurogenetic level within individual cells in the brain.
It’s one of the best understood mental disorders and the meds work.

Someone just cut around me to my left on that outer roadway around the parking lots near Michael’s/Goodwill. (Snowden) at high speed. WHILE I was signaling to turn left and in the act of turning. 😱 I’m fine. Near miss. But l’m sitting in the parking lot convincing myself I’m not dead.
