Parking was one of the more controversial aspects to Portland's Residential Infill Project.

This newly built triplex at SE 16th & Morrison is a good example of how eliminating parking requirements allowed a mature tree to be saved. www.redfin.com/OR/Portland/...

Our side streets are even narrower between parked cars, due to the typically wider planting strips
November 5, 2025 at 6:16 PM
Sites that meet this requirement are really rare in Portland. Our typical inner neighborhood main streets (Belmont, Alberta, Division, etc) are 60' wide with 12' of sidewalk and 8' of parking either side, or 20' clear between parked cars.

They will only be allowed on sites that front a street that is at least 26' wide _between parking_ and without overhead power

I’m in a restaurant that has a video screen, with scenes of people walking through a city (maybe in Spain). About 1 in 10 people are wearing masks outside, and it’s weird how it easy it is to place this video in ~2021.

Not sure why it says “base”, but I think it would be this standard. Often times there’s a required step down in height when a mixed/commercial zone abuts a residential zone.

This is the first sizeable development I've seen in Portland that takes advantage of 2004's SB 1537, which requires mandatory approval of certain adjustments (variances) to local zoning codes. www.portlandmaps.com/detail/permi...

It will allow the 127 unit Apatheia development to move forward.

I'm hoping at least one or other of PacWest and Big Pink gets an observation deck added. Both seem to have nice big areas of flat roof and would have fabulous views. It would be the perfect attraction to take out-of-town visitors to, and therefore be great for downtown foot traffic.
