Brussels walking tour was fun today. A city alive to many traditions & cultures 🇧🇪 I am hoping to plan more visits to Europe via train. Just can’t be using planes anymore for leisure travel. Lucky to have a train option for the continent where I live.

I sent my non-academic friend the current list of redundancies. She could not believe the scale of it
If 1000 job losses were announced in one day for another industry, it would make the top headlines. This one is going to take people by surprise with huge impacts on other sectors, cities, regions, life plans...
I've always told you the truth about the university crisis, haven't I? Always got my predictions right, indeed perhaps a bit on the cautious side? Well, my view now: there is a non-zero tail risk of a rapid implosion of most of Britain's HE system over the next two years. Stark, but true.

Blowing in the wind: A rare example of an anemoscope — an ancient device used to indicate the direction of the wind. It features the names of the winds and their quirky personifications, lips pursed in the act of blowing. #ParcoArcheologicodelCelio #Rome. #StormDarragh #AncientBluesky

I love local volunteer-run museums. I love the surreal randomness of them, but also the individual passion that shines through. And, of course, their deliciously old school cafes. Today's exceeded expectations.
