The result of 180 tonnes of munitions going off outide the harbour at Newhaven in 1944 was huge - only a few homes out of 1800 undamaged. Other barges also breaking free and going off, would have flattened it, I'd imagine.

This was Kirkwall harbour, #Orkney on #ArmisticeDay, taken by Tom Kent. In The Orcadian newspaper on the 14th November 1918 it was reported that upon receiving news of the armistice 'the shipping in harbour and the streets of Kirkwall were quickly bedecked with bunting...'
