I agree with a lot of what you wrote abt. There are people who decide on reading lists and canonization though. So there sort of is an academic, if not necessarily wise cabal of people with lots of influence on what has stood/will stand the test of time

on the basis of this book alone: stunning imagery in both the prose and the artwork, playful typography, and at the heart of it all a really compelling world and mystery. Oh, and lest I forget generational trauma as a core theme 👌. I think that's gonna resonate real well with gen alpha.
