Responding to Trump’s blathering about Gaza with “it’s bad because we don’t want overseas military involvement” is, in this context, both entirely correct and so so so very beside the point. Like saying “don’t murder that woman…it’s just impossible to get blood out of that white couch.” Close, but…

So #classaction #lawyers, my dude Elon Musk is not a part of the government and thus is not immune to civil lawsuit in his individual capacity. But intimately involved in acts likely to cost a lot of federal workers their livelihoods. So, cause of action? Bet the discovery would be interesting.

This op-ed by Perry Bacon Jr draws some meaning from the chaos. I have been thinking a lot about culture and how culture shifts and in my life I’ve really only seen American culture become more tolerant. I’m not looking forward to witnessing the alternative. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

As they shutter offices, stop investigations, fire and reassign experts, it is important to acknowledge that what was warned is now so. The gremlins own the machine, cancer has custody of the body, and four years is a very long time. I don’t know what will be left but it won’t be what it was.

The first Trump admin was full of friction. Trad GOP in cabinet diverting him, bureaucracy slowing radical change, some GOP electeds giving a thumbs down, people protesting in massive numbers. It stemmed the awful. Didn’t stop it altogether but limited it. This time is going to be so much worse.

Biden admin today deferred to Trump on removing HTS terror designation. A colossal failure. Needs to be removed to facilitate aid. An opportunity to give Syria a real chance and Biden ducks. Admin has been catastrophic on mid east & it likely comes from Biden.

Biden will defer to Trump on terror label for Syria’s Islamist leaders
The U.S. will keep HTS on the list of terrorist organizations for the remainder of President Joe Biden’s tenure, leaving the decision to Donald Trump, officials say.

Still thinking about who should win, but got distracted by the fact that some MILF trying to enter the biz should clearly take the name Jizz Cheney.

Annoyed that I’m now just an anti-spam bot account. Blocked 30+ this morning (I may have made them angry with my post last night? Does that make any sense?). I’m posting about them, thinking about them, while at the same time I don’t even know what they are for or why I should care about them. Agh!

I have 1k followers. Yay! 99.5% of them are trying to sell me something. Capitalism! The vast majority of those are selling sex. Horny Capitalism! Potent! In honor of that, does anyone have a recommendation for a thoughtful history or analysis of sex work? I’m curious about its role in society.

Sometimes important to remember that not much beats playing a good board game with friends or family. Was cooperative gaming with the family tonight and I feel 33% more at peace with the entire world.

Interesting meditation from an unnamed practitioner (It’s Rich Hill, right?). I appreciate on several levels that it concludes with “the beatings will continue to morale improves.”
a pitcher who chose to remain anonymous authored a terrific piece for us on the Tommy John "epidemic" from the perspective of, well, a pitcher:

Gladiator II was 2.5 hours of hot garbage. Denzel was the lone brightspot. Terribly missed opportunity. I wonder if it might be a good time for a film making a rousing defense of democracy against the evils of tyranny? Instead geriatric Ridley loosed some sharks in the Coliseum and called it a day.

I saw a post complaining about accounts following too many other accounts and I’m feeling self conscious. Am I doing it wrong? If you write interesting things, make cool art, take neat photos, crack funny jokes, or like to share your titties with the internet, I’m gonna follow you. Is that so bad?

Great thread, always, and especially in the coming years.
Speaking of shut the fuck up Friday, I’ve been seeing some people say that the FBI has contacted them for questioning after seeing social media posts, and my extremely urgent advice is that you should under NO CIRCUMSTANCES talk to the Feds without a lawyer.
