Interested in reading, politics, walking, animals. Pleased that the UK has adults in charge, at last.
Borrowed this book from our local library. Politics aside, it is a great read. Great solutions suggested.

Shared from 'Really American' on Facebook.

American English is brutal. One silent K in “Knight,”
just one in “Knickerbocker,”
but three silent Ks in “Republican.”

What is happening is frightening. How this US government can cause so much damage. Librarians are often the good guys.
More than 130,000 government pages have gone dark in a purge that one scientist likened to a “digital book burning.” A group of librarians and archivists is fighting back.

Dear allies, the investigation of the Lithuanian prosecutor’s office has confirmed our suspicions that responsible for setting fires to shopping centres in Vilnius and Warsaw are the Russian secret services. Good to know before negotiations. Such is the nature of this state.

A timely reminder from Roald Dahl
The measles outbreak in Texas is reminding me of the public letter Roald Dahl wrote about losing his daughter to measles in 1962, just before the vaccine was publicly available.

Fiona Hill is a longtime expert on Russia & Putin who explains how the US political system is drifting into autocracy.

Key: Don't watch a country’s titular leaders. Watch the billionaires, the oligarchs. They're driven entirely by the peer group they're in—an extraordinarily small group of people.

Please fund #libraries and save them.
We lost our town library as a community centre with large spaces for kids sessions, free computer facilities etc, when the underfunded council sold their offices, moved into library building, and forced the library to squeeze into the tiny town museum. So much loss
Anyone in the UK who has had the slightest contact with their local public library will already know this.
Public libraries have been ground into the ground by a chronic lack of underfunding whilst being expected to become an extension of social services.

Book by Caroline Lucas should be good. Must order it.
Thoughtful book by Caroline Lucas (ex-Green Party MP), using literature to reclaim England’s story from right-wingers. Others have promoted a radical version of England, but this is contemporary and passionate

Tim Leunig in the FT is right about Brexit.

But it’s far worse.

Brexit ripped us out of our $19 trillion GDP domestic market & reduced us to one a 6th of it, thumped our economy, fractured the UK, threw our governance into chaos, & generated perilous geopolitical effects.
