On this day in 1989, an armed gunman murdered 14 women at École Polytechnique de Montréal. Another ten women and four men were injured.
The anniversary of the massacre is commemorated annually on Dec. 6 as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

At 10:57 a.m. on Nov. 11, 1918, George Lawrence Price stepped out into a village street in Belgium.
As he did, a German sniper shot him in the chest.
He died one minute later and became the last Canadian soldier to die in the First World War.
This is his story.

An accomplished stage magician, he was also a scientific skeptic who challenged paranormal and pseudoscientific claims using his magician background. He was a frequent guest on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.

On this day in 1982, Glenn Gould died in Toronto.
Born in 1932 in Toronto, he was one of the most celebrated pianists of the 20th century. He won three Grammys, three Junos and is a member of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. His music is also on the Voyager Golden Record.

Ken Dryden has died.
A Hockey Hall of Famer with the Montreal Canadiens, he won six Stanley Cups, the Conn Smythe, Calder and five Vezinas.
A best-selling author, he also served in Parliament from 2004 to 2011.

Graham Greene has died.
A Canadian acting icon, he earned an Oscar nomination for his role as Kicking Bird in Dances With Wolves. He also won a Grammy, Gemini and Canadian Screen Award, along with the Governor General's Performing Arts Award. He also earned a star on Canada's Walk of Fame.

In 1941, the Royal Canadian Air Force Women's Division was established.
During the Second World War, 17,000 enlisted to serve with it, and 30 lost their lives in active service.
This is the story of the women of that service.

A major earthquake off Kamchatka, Russia has struck and a TSUNAMI WATCH has been issued for B.C.

North coast and Haida Gwaii, central coast and northeast Vancouver Island, outer west coast of Vancouver island and the Juan de Fuca Strait.

He was the lead guitarist and principal songwriter of The Band. A member of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, he was awarded a star on Canada's Walk of Fame. He was a Grammy, Emmy and Oscar nominee for his music.
