There is a French restaurant in my city with the best bread I’ve ever tasted. I’d go to war if I knew there’d serve it there.
Anybody else think that the bread and butter is sometimes the best thing in a posh restaurant? That stuff's awesome, whereas I sometimes find the other courses disappointing / dissatisfying.

This creates a strange vulnerability. We’re cognitively dependent on tools that are designed to exploit that dependence for engagement and profit. Unlike a book or filing cabinet that waits passively, your phone actively competes for control over what you think about and when.
Here’s my thing re: devices and social media: functionally, these devices are letting us outsource some of what we used to do with our very own brains. Compared to 20 years ago, part of my brain is in my pocket and also I can play games on it. And crucially, other people control a lot of that part.

Watched that Eddie Murphy doc with my parents yesterday (highly recommend). They told me no current comedian comes close to his level of fame in the 80s. “You wouldn’t get it, you just had to be there.” My mom seemed a little too moved by the memories.
