Measles cases in the US:
2020 - 13 cases
2025 - 1912 cases so far and 3 deaths
This is a 147x increase.
There's no spin DHHS can put on this explosion of measles cases that will make this justifiable or acceptable.

I really enjoyed speaking with Kent Anderson and Joy Moore on their podcast @disruptedscience.bsky.social.

They are working on a book about how the Internet is undermining science at every turn.

Truth
Remembering several pithy Asimov quotes, but this will have to serve:

"The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom."
It would be a mistake to assume that RFK Jr. wouldn’t dare take COVID19 vaccines off the market in the U.S. It is, after all, his organization that is demanding it.

Already this year, anti-vaccine activists have downplayed the risks of measles and polio.

Now, they’re adding whooping cough to the list, even as cases of the disease surge, killing at least ten babies over the past two years.
The new CDC leader’s whooping cough scandal
“It continues to be appalling, the type of people RFK Jr. is putting into high-level positions in CDC.”

I was pleased to again partner with virologist @jimalwine.bsky.social on this piece about the continued, insidious assault on public health by RFK Jr.

We are truly on a bullet train back to the dark ages; prisoners to Kennedy’s bizarre whims.

He is contemptible.

This is excellent. But when will we be able to get it? The filter I mean. Someone will try to sell you a washing-machine fish, don't fall for it.
Fish-inspired filter removes 99% of microplastics from washing machine wastewater
Wastewater from washing machines is considered a major source of microplastics—tiny plastic particles that are suspected of harming human and animal health. Researchers at the University of Bonn have ...

since we're doing USPS discourse again, a reminder of what Dems should be saying
"the USPS is a miracle. it's in the constitution. for the price of a single stamp you can send a letter across the country, from Hawaii to Maine. Trump is trying to take that away from you. He's attacking Christmas cards and wedding invitations. It's un-American and it has to stop."

Malone now says that ACIP merely makes recommendations to the director of the CDC.

He is correct, but the problem is that the current CDC director has no education, training or experience in any area of science, medicine, or public health.
