Today I saw that tariffs are paused. I assumed stock market manipulation and logged right into my brokerage account, and yay, it's up a bit. So I sold ~5% of holdings! Then I moved that to a high interest savings account where it will make cash not lose it.

I spent the weekend with animals (my own and a friend's) and being social with humans. I read a book. I also went for a long walk and only half of it was the route I have walked nearly every single day for the past 2 years. The other half was through a neighborhood I've never been to. Productivity!

There's a house in my neighborhood that has been decked out in Q-Anon, Trump, Confederate flag, Let's Go Brandon, flags and yard signs etc., for years. I walked by there the other day. They seem to have swapped all that out for a single American flag--looks pretty new too. Huh! Wonder why? LOL.

I was slow to feed the cats this evening. The matriarch gently corrected me by toppling some potted plants, scattering some work papers, drinking some of my water and then dumping the rest on a notebook. It worked but I may have "forgotten" dessert.

Currently read: Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler, published in 1993. Epistolary dystopian novel set in L.A. 2024-2025. Just read March 5, 2025. Tornadoes, measles outbreak, rainy. Checked weather history. Yeah it was rainy in L.A. on March 5th. OK, Prophet Butler.

Judge Theodore D. Chuang of the U.S. District Court in Maryland ruled that the Defendants’ unilateral decision to shut down USAID likely violated the US Constitution. Indefinitely blocked the agency’s dismantling and barred Musk’s staffers from accessing sensitive personal data maintained by USAID.

I've been hiding for 6 days recovering a shred of sanity. I fell down rabbit holes, organized things, started a research project where I'm collaborating with someone who can organize all the mess I generate! Oh and I finished a first draft of a children's book. I never planned to do that part.
