I strive to become a decent person, but I stumble. A lot.

Well, most of the preparation is done, and with Christmas and New Year coming up, that's probably a good thing xP
But that said, I'll read through the text and tag where I need to put in work.
QUESTION 5
What are you going to be doing for the next 16 days to prepare for #StartingOffWrite?
Stick around for the Outro!

Different things, but what works best for me is the strategy I use for blank pages.
I have a convo on the page with myself about why I'm stuck. Usually, it's story unrelated, so I write worries, annoyances, sadnesses, to clear my head, then I brainstorm my scene, then I write.
QUESTION 4
How do you plan to keep going when you get stuck?
What strategies do you use for maintaining progress?

I start a conversation with myself right on the page, 'So what do I need now? I need her to get to x. How do I get there? Option a. No, b is better. Well, actually, c should happen, too'.
No longer a blank page, nothing to fear, and I get my bearings to continue into the scene.
QUESTION 3
How do you plan to get past the fear of the blank page?
What strategies do you use for starting a new project?

I'm not sure about comp titles. I've never been good at that.
Authors who I find inspiring are people like Diana Wynne Jones, Judith Tarr (absolutely in love with her use of language), Victor Hugo, Jack London, Mercedes Lackey, and more.
QUESTION 2
What comp titles or inspo sources have gone into your WIP?
Don't just limit yourself to other books! Think broad!

In Earthbound, a brother and sister find themselves trapped in a power struggle their family lost before they were even born.
If they lose this round, it will be the end of their people, the end of spirit magic, and the end of the man they thought was their enemy.
QUESTION 1
Introduce the WIP you're working on in January (it's okay if it changes!).
Give us a short pitch (don't worry about the wording, this is just for fun!) and, if you'd like, a graphic or art. Don't forget alt-text.

I'm Lucid Absence from Denmark. My genres are usually fantasy and/or sci-fi in various shapes and sizes.
I did 50k in November with my writing group, so my January Adventure will be to turn those into a digestible story.
INTRO
Introduce yourself, what genres you write, and whether you'll be doing 50k novel or Choose Your Own Adventure in January!

AI Overviews on Google are particularly egregious because they're at the very top of the results and presented to everyone by default — people who didn't ask for them and likely don't understand the problems.
Google now inflicts AI responses on all searches. I was startled by just how incorrect the AI response was. Like, my god. Is this what people are using????
