Another friend put it to me like this: "ICE has made the classic Nazi mistake. They've invaded a winter people in the winter."

Today I talked with a 76 year old who'd been standing in the cold for hours guarding her neighbors. I was getting kind of chilly, even in the new winter gear i bought for this trip (and I live in the goddam mountains myself).

She didn't even have a hat on.

Before I came, I asked a local friend if the cold (it's going to be -20 or so in the coming days) would stop people from coming out. "No, we'll be there. It's ICE who can't handle it."

I would read a 120-240-page novel about Elon Musk’s video game player.

How he got the job. How much supervision he has. The games he plays, the experiences he has in the games. Which ones he tells Elon about and which he keeps to himself. Where he sits. What he dreams about.

Oh wow, working towards the Fuehrer in action.

(In this case working towards… the Taliban?)
Fellow NSA - National Security Agency veterans. Look at what’s happened at the National Cryptologic Museum. They covered up with brown paper the photos of Women in American Cryptology. All in response to President Trump’s anti-diversity executive order.

I mean just to prevent normalisation: let us never ever forget how incredibly, nuclear-scale cringe it is to have called this destructive and stupid exercise “DOGE”.

I am struggling to think of anything more cringe any ruler has done and I include Caligula making his favourite horse a senator.
there is no such department, @apnews.com

what are you doing
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Department of Government Efficiency, run by President Donald Trump’s billionaire adviser and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, has gained access to sensitive Treasury data including Social Security and Medicare customer payment systems, according to two people familiar with the situation.

put it this way, it's not a hand signal you'd do if you very much wanted people *not* to think you are a Nazi

something that the movie has made me think is: there was a lot of truly great art and none of it stopped the Vietnam War.

it is better, at the end of your life, to be able to say: I made art that protested the atrocities. better than not. but let's not kid ourselves. these things keep happening.

(I looked it up and apparently it's Se7en not 7even.

I went with another Orthodox Jew and we had a good laugh about how long and repetitive that movie would have been if it'd been about all 613 mitzvot.

Killed in the manner of "not eating a rock badger". Someone else as "not eating a hoopoe".)
