Congratulations, Madam President pro Tempore Monique Limón, on starting your first day in this new role!

A barrier-breaking moment as the first Latina and woman of color to lead this position in California. A bold step forward for our state.

It’s National Take a Hike Day, California!

Earlier this year, I hiked through Calaveras Big Trees State Park, a reminder of how lucky we are to call this beautiful state home. Get outside today and soak in that fresh California air.

The return of SNAP benefits is a lifeline for millions of families. But the Republican Big Betrayal Bill guts that progress, slashing funding and imposing harsh work requirements that could rip food off the tables of those who need it most.

Working families deserve support, not these cruel cuts.

Major economic news!

Thanks to our latest round of state tax credits, nine companies are expanding their headquarters and manufacturing operations in California.

This will bring 2,700+ new, good-paying jobs and $370M+ in private investment into the Golden State's economy.

This is a win for UCLA and all the students, faculty, and staff who power one of the world’s best public universities.

Cruel actions like this from Trump threaten people all across California and the United states who benefit from the breakthroughs and discoveries that happen at the UC.

November is Native American Heritage Month.

This month, we celebrate the rich heritage & enduring resilience of Native communities across CA & beyond. The Golden State is proudly home to over 100+ Tribal nations, & their stories, wisdom, & leadership will continue to shape our collective future.

An atmospheric river will bring heavy rainfall, likely with dangerous flooding and debris flows, to parts of Southern California today into the weekend.

A debris flow happens when normally dry soil becomes overly saturated, reaching a point where it turns to a liquid state and flows downhill.

This Transgender Awareness Week, we honor the courage, resilience, & contributions of our transgender & gender non-conforming neighbors.

Everyone deserves to live safely & freely as their true selves. Let’s keep working toward a future where equality is not only promised, but it’s lived every day.

California is leading the charge toward a 100% clean energy future!
ICYMI: At the UN Climate Change Conference, @governor.ca.gov announced CA has reached 16,942 MW of battery storage — a massive buildout redefining grid reliability and speeding the state’s transition to 100% clean energy

That’s a 2,100% surge in storage capacity since the Gov. took office in 2019

🌧️ Storms are moving through California with heavy rain in the north and wet weather shifting south this weekend.

Expect localized flooding, strong winds, and possible thunderstorms, with a risk of debris flows near burn areas.

Stay safe, California, and stay weather aware.

California is leading the global fight against climate change at #COP30.

Thanks to @CAGovernor’s leadership, we’re building powerful partnerships around the world to protect our planet.

Proud to see the Golden State pushing bold climate solution and inspiring others to do the same.
California is advancing as a global climate leader at #COP30.

We're accelerating international cooperation and reinforcing California’s position as a reliable climate partner — especially while the Trump Administration fails to.

⚠️ California, stay alert! Heavy storms are on the way and with them comes the risk of mudslides and debris flow, especially in burn scar areas.

For decades, Oxnard residents raised concerns about the Ormond Beach Power Plant & its impact on local air quality.

After 7 months of negotiations, we reached an agreement with the plant’s operator, GenOn, to invest $1.5M in air quality monitoring & public outreach as part of their lease extension.

This Veterans Day, we pay tribute to the brave service members who have stood in defense of our country and to the families who stand beside them.

Your sacrifice strengthens our communities, and we are forever grateful.

California & the White House do not share the same values, especially when it comes to feeding our kids.

This SNAP/CalFresh disruption wasn’t unavoidable. The administration has the funds to prevent it.

This is an intentionally manufactured hunger crisis, & American families are paying the price.

No child’s education should be held hostage by a federal shutdown.

Hundreds of California families are scrambling as Head Start centers face closure, threatening 1,000 low-income children and 270 teachers. California will keep fighting so families and kids aren’t left behind.

Millions of Americans rely on SNAP to put food on the table. Trump’s shutdown tried to take it away. The so-called partial funding he agreed to will cover only half of normal benefits, leaving families hungry & struggling.

Food security isn’t a bargaining chip. CA will always stand up for families.

For the next two days, we celebrate the lives and legacies of our loved ones who have passed on through cultural traditions that keep their memories alive.

May this weekend bring much reflection, joy and connection for everyone.

With SNAP benefits set to lapse tomorrow, our city is stepping up where Washington has failed—delivering life-saving food assistance for working Californians abandoned by a federal government that’s turned a blind eye during this shutdown.

This #FilipinoAmericanHistoryMonth, I visited Spoon and Fork to meet chef Joanne Suavillo who shares her Filipina heritage through delicious dishes like lumpia, tapsilog, lechon kawaii, and halo halo.

California: let’s support local Filipino American gems like Spoon and Fork this month & beyond!

Starting Nov. 1, millions of Americans will lose access to food assistance because of the Republicans’ government shutdown.

Before the shutdown, they already voted to slash SNAP by $186 billion — a 20% cut affecting over 40M people.

This is intentional hunger — caused by Trump and his GOP allies.
Trump & his lapdogs in Congress pushed through a $186 billion cut to SNAP/CalFresh over the next 10 years in their budget this Summer.

They chose that. Cruelty.

He’s turned his back on the American people.

It only ends when Trump gets on a plane & returns to the US to negotiate with his own party

In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I joined Sen. Susan Rubio — a fearless advocate for survivors — to shine a light on an issue that affects far too many families across CA.

Nearly 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men in the U.S. experience domestic violence.
