There is a gulf in America. I submit it is the gulf between good and evil, or at least not-evil and evil.

The gulf is not just between people who oppose this and people who are indifferent to it or reluctantly accept it in support of immigration policy or see it as collateral damage.

Toxicologist here! This will improve the health of zero Americans. Current synthetic food dyes are not causing health problems, and are often times used because they are actually safer than natural food dyes. Reminder that guns are the #1 cause of death of children but we are going to ban food dyes.
BREAKING: The FDA has officially announced they will be banning artificial dyes in the food supply by the end of 2026

This includes Red 40, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Blue 1, Blue 2, Green 3

consider that it's legal for a 15 year old to get married in Mississippi but not, apparently, to change their name.
A transgender teen cannot change his name, the Mississippi Supreme Court ruled in an opinion that repeatedly misgendered him and referred to him as a "minor female" and "young girl."

Both parents backed their son's request for a name change.

if the whole subtext of the show is 'we need a guy who can adopt the tactics of the right wing media and use it to advance dem ideas' then i can't really think of a bigger failure than a first episode that makes kirk seem like a savant and newsom like a guy who 'just wants to learn from the best!'

i listened to a little of this to get a sense of what he thought he was doing. just extremely grim stuff. a politician asking propagandist who is actively trying to destroy his party for advice and then letting kirk run circles around him. zero challenges, just deference and admitting he's clueless

the thing about chasing what you think is public opinion is that if and when things turn you will have made a bunch of statements and taken a bunch of stances that you’ll have to disavow. probably a better strategy just to say what you actually believe and stand by it. anyway, this guy sucks.

We can quibble about the placement of each item but the original sin here is the very existence of this graph. Why on earth would a news organization rank social issues like they're weapons in an RPG?
Of course the NYT sees the "DEI" stuff positively & is neutral on anti-trans discrimination

The end result of this is trans people can't travel to the USA without the risk of being permanently banned from entering the USA on grounds of "gender fraud".

Already know trans folks in high tech fields who will be cancelling plans to give talks in America.
