13 years ago I left my Russell Group Chemistry course with nothing to show for it. Undiagnosed Autism/ADHD tried to end me & I couldn’t afford to resit, so I left.
Yesterday, I accepted ANOTHER first class degree. This time, I finally got my science degree (a better science too 🤪)

AWS messed up your day? I was once in charge of a summer programme on a very rural campsite where I had to announce to a field of over 80 16-17 year olds that they would lose their Snapchat streaks and no we wouldn’t run them out on the minibuses to preserve it 🤣 That was a WILD day at work.

Cancelled my @geolsoc.bsky.social and @royalastrosoc.bsky.social student memberships. End of an era (my bank account can’t manage a postgraduate course) but highly recommend both to undergraduate students, the extra resources and events have complemented my studies brilliantly

Using all my annual leave for study isn’t all bad 🥰 Chilling by the pond in the sunshine. Typical that my one year without fieldwork the weather is flawless 🤣 I promise not to go on fieldwork again #OpenUniversity

38 days and I’ve got 2 TMAs, a 3500 word poster and a 4.5 hour exam to fit in alongside a full time apprenticeship and lab work to collect my results for my research project. Updating my ‘Materials and Methods’ to include significant quantities of caffeine and questioning of my life choices

The best thing about making Lego a special interest is you can build everything else that captures your interest 😂 Found this fab design & all the bricks to build the pheasant who visits our garden.

I finished the spring wreath in spring which is nothing short of an ADHD miracle & it’s been a joy to crochet each of its individual parts ticking them off as I go but it turns out I don’t like the finished project 😂🤣 My constant dissatisfaction with my own work isn’t limited to my degree it seems…

Happy #AutismAcceptanceDay - I celebrated by accepting my having to work from home because I woke up to a migraine and feeling like my right eye was going to fall out so spent my usual commute time laid on the coldest floor in the house waiting for my triptan to take effect 🥳

Honestly @openuniversity.bsky.social graduates are the best. Every graduation I’m proud to be a part of the #OUFamily - I’ve had a magical day chatting to our grads 💙 Now racing home to chat geoproblems before I do it all again tomorrow!
