Or if you truly must drive, just use the abundant street parking! I think I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve parked in a surface lot downtown.

Ok, here's one big item of the night! The parking tax! For a preview, check out our urbanism columnist @lpangborn.bsky.social 's piece on that here: rangemedia.co/spokane-city...
Spokane City Council considers taxing commercial parking lots – RANGE Media
The tax would add about $0.50 to a $3.85 parking fee and fund street repair. But it’s not just about revenue, it’s about increasing vibrancy downtown.

I want to say those were part of a Traffic Calming cycle, which is a very closely related program to the quick builds, but I’m not 100% sure

Hardening a bike lane isn’t without consequence, as it makes plowing and sweeping more difficult. So I don’t know that this one will indeed get hardened, but I certainly hope so

Totally. Drivers going up Barnes often drive right over the uphill bike lane line, so I’m sure thats going to happen at the bottom of the hill too.

The good news is there is a buffer between the bike lane and the vehicle lane, which is ripe for hardening with some sort of vertical divider.

Yeah! That was part of the slate of “quick build” projects the city did this year.

That one in particular I believe was in response to neighborhood and police asking the city to help reduce speeds.

The lanes were sooooo wide (excess of 20ft) which makes it feel like you can drive super fast.

These lots on Main Ave are nearly identical. Same size, same block, same amount of frontage.

The left paid $3615 in property taxes this year. The right paid $19108.

And who wanted fewer but somehow cheaper houses put on it.

Cheap houses are small and close together folks!

They are indeed! Stoked for that one
