With Trump’s second term approaching, governors like Maine’s Janet Mills ( #MaineWontWait ) & Massachusetts’ Maura Healey ( #MassLeadsAct ) are going long on offshore wind. Can their states sustain progress under shifting federal policies, or are they “Supporters to a Fault”? #energysky

#OffshoreWind is key to a balanced grid, even under an administration vocally opposed to it. A key message from Rana Mukerji, #NYISO SVP of Market Structures: no single resource can meet all the grid's needs. A reliable, cost-effective grid depends on resource diversity. #EnergyTransition

If Youngkin’s main concern is really hidden & increasing costs for Virginians, re-engagement w/ RGGI might offer a chance to reinvest quarterly auction proceeds into programs that address just that, while aligning with his “all-American, all of the above” energy policy—we love a rebrand. #energysky

With Virginia's #RGGI participation upheld by the courts, Governor Glenn Youngkin now has a chance to lean into the program—using auction proceeds to push OSW while keeping costs in check for consumers, per his 2022 Energy Plan. #RenewableEnergy #EnergySky #EnergyPolicy

Yup. The climate victories are still occasionally happening, but they're happening quietly and at the state level.

In my analysis of governors' roles in OSW, I call Youngkin a 'Pragmatist.' He sees OSW and other low-or-no-carbon-emitting energies as key to VA’s future in a diversified strategy. His RGGI withdrawal? Cautious—maybe even overprotective of VA consumer costs—but worth considering in any critique.

“Drill baby, drill” might just be another Trump hyperbole.

Wondering what other big promises he’s made publicly, but then ended up just doing what made sense economically…

Regardless, the risk would make any small company would be hesitant to enter or expand in the U.S. right now
