With November rolling up, have any of you joined some of the NaNoWriMo alternative challenges getting ready to start?
I've signed up for a few, but my focus is Prowritingaid's Novel November.
I always sign up to something, but the follow through is where the struggle begins.

I think I want to do a reading challenge for October. I'm a mood reader, so it'll only be for three books. (The rest will be romances I'm sure lol). Debating between translated horror books or haunted "house" books. The Graveyard Apartment by Mariko Koike fits both so I'm good either way.

I went from brainstorming some alternate pov fairytale ideas to chatting with Copilot about horror books.

August Book Adventures

Last month proved to be a weird one because it sure doesn't feel like I read twenty-three books. There were no 5 star reads for August, but six of the books were close at 4 1/2. Most were romances, but one horror is included which I talked about during the month. Claire…

A Couple Romance Rants

This past week I've read two books that just made me want to rant. Both are on Kindle Unlimited, so it's not the money spent that's irritating. I don't expect every book I read to be great. I'm happy with average as long as something sparkles in them. Usually this is the…

I have finally taken to heart the advice of setting goals I can actually meet.
I would love to say it's sitting down for 10 minutes and writing, but it's not.
100 words a day is my target to start.
Baby steps needed to push back on decades of writing resistance.

I picked up the three free months promo for Kindle Unlimited and have been making use of it over reading books I already own. Some of my favorite authors had new books in the program and I wanted to catch up on the series. I also tried reading some horror, just for something different because I've been gorging on romances lately even though it's been a struggle finding ones that catch my interest.

I love fantasy.
I love romance.
I enjoy urban romance and fantasy.

But I hate Fae stories. FFS give some other species a chance at love once in a while.

I've been very very quiet...but not with writing. Or reading. In fact, what have I been doing these last couple of months?

I've no clue, but I'm quite sure it wasn't productive.

The beginning of summer...the beginning of the end of my book slump. I started out the month slow, primarily sticking with short books, like Harlequin Intrigue and Romantic Suspense. (Does still reading category romances date me???) At the end of the month, Amazon was offering three free months for Kindle Unlimited and so, like the addict I am, I turned that back on.

April Overview

Last month was odd. Like, I felt like I read a lot less than I did. But the data says I read six more books than I'd read in March. So, win? Most of my books for the month were on the short side. Sixteen of them were under 300 words, with roughly half of those under 150 words. Aha!…

Sixteen of them were under 300 words, with roughly half of those under 150 words. Aha! Now I see why it feels like I didn't read much.

The Elusive “Something”

I'm having a hard time finding books that catch my interest this past month. I feel like this is my least amount read in a month, but Storygraph tells me differently. Apparently, March was. I'm trying to find that next great series, preferably romantic suspense, but nothing's landing. I ended up rereading all of Catherine Cowles series again over the last two months.

A Summary of March Reading

April has arrived so it's time to assess where my reading goals are at. I'm going to say right off the bat, that I was a bit lacking when it came to reading this month. I allowed political drama to distract me from the fun. Still, I'm a couple books ahead of my yearly…

Things I'd like you to be aware of on #Autism Awareness Day

Autism Can mean we:
-take people/ things literally
-don't understand you because you aren't saying what you mean (see above)
-feel all the feelings, but don't know how to show them
-are overwhelmed by too much colour/ objects/ loud noises

Someday I need to update my Goodreads on the books I've read this year for no reason other than I signed up for their yearly reading challenge.

It's super handy when reading on kindle, but as the numbers show, I've not been doing that.

Books read so far:
Goodreads - 17
Storygraph - 72

I feel like there should be a way to track communication to our Government from us. Nothing privacy concerning. Just a list. Today Senator * received 10000 communications of No and 1000 communications for yes regarding the SAVE Act.

Just because I find History fascinating, especially events like Nazism and how a whole country thought it would be a good idea for various reasons, doesn't mean I want to partake in such an event.
I suppose with History being people's least favorite subject, all this *waves hand* is to be expected.

I will get some writing done today if it's the last thing I do.
*looks at news tabs open*
It may or may not be fiction, though.

Well, this is a day, isn't it?
Will Americans stand up for freedom or dictatorship when Trump eventually partners up with Putin to destroy Ukraine?
Never expected to be on the wrong side if WWIII broke out.
Damn.
