It shouldn't go unsaid that this show explicitly centers Lex's physically abusive mother as an important part of his psyche, and in a show about family, that makes this Luthor a particularly effective, threatening, and ultimately pitiable figure. They styled him like a Bad Dad for a reason, I think.
