Many would rather blame a disabled person for being disabled rather than understand that disability is something that just happens. To acknowledge that would be to acknowledge their own vulnerability. That's too scary for most people. Disability isn't a moral failing, it's part of being human.

The privilege of having a drivers licence hit hard today. My husband survived severe brain bleeds from endocarditis. No cognitive decline (aphasia) only mild paresis of the right arm. Cost to reinstate licence? $2000 not including adaptive equipment. Nothing is OHIP covered or insurance covered. 😫

If your diversity efforts (in activism, reading, whatever) don’t include people with disabilities, they’re incomplete. We are the one marginalized group anyone can join at any time but we are frequently forgotten or ignored.

I didn’t have much hope for “ Skeleton Crew” on Disney+. There have been a few misses lately. But, I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I actually really love it and look forward to the next episodes. The kids playing in this are phenomenal.
