We’re not here for a longtime, let’s have a good time 🥂
The Peak District National Park, UK
🍽️ Storm Darragh is battering us right now so I fancy some comfort food.
Luckily, I’d picked up some beef shin from the butchers yesterday.
Tom Kerridge’s Beef Ragu cooked on top of the wood burner. Ready in 2.5hrs

The tree is up, it’s time for the obligatory photoshoot in front of it. (And a pocket full of treats to bribe an incredibly camera shy Labrador) 🐶

Voila!
Fluffy, silky flatbreads 🍽️

Here it is. Unfortunately, I don’t know who to credit the recipe to as I’ve used these notes for a couple of years now.
I often make a double batch and freeze the extras. Then just put them in the toaster when I want to use them.

🍽️ it’s a miserable day today so decided to bake instead.
This ball of dough will soon become delicious flatbreads.
It’s a great ‘no-need recipe’ because I absolutely hate kneeding.
Just 2hrs to rest.

It’s definitely time for a haircut.

Tonight’s cookery book is an old and unusual one. Dali’s les Diners de Gala.
At 6 years old, Salvador Dali wanted to become a chef.
This book from 1973 illustrates Dali’s love for banquets and his surreal artistic style.

I’ve had the book for years and haven’t made anything from it……yet. 🍽️

All I want is a nice picture of the puppy by the fire but apparently that’s too much to ask for.

She hates having her picture taken. I even used crisps as a bribe for these two.

My husband, the sculptor: I love you, you’re my muse

Can somebody please show this to the next doughnut that claims “Suella speaks for the majority of people in this country”.

Clearly she does not.

I ate this last night and I can’t stop thinking about it.
Light as a cloud Choux pastry, crab and apple filling with a yuzu reduction syrup. It was so good 🤌🏼

I’m going to try and recreate it in the next few weeks 🍽️

I don’t really believe in “evil” but if I did, this guy would be the epitome.

A truly awful person walks among us

If you’ve not yet seen the leaked Tory WhatsApp messages on Sam Coates, treat yourself.

Apart from further evidence Danny Krueger is a horrible human being, we were also treated to this from William Wragg MP.

P.S Wragg is stepping down at the next election

Just found out we came second in the village pumpkin competition.

The trophy still eludes me 🤨

If you like moss 🟢 and a good walk, Luds Church in Staffordshire was fantastic (even in the rain). Even better than I was hoping for, stunning.

We stopped at Wincle brewery for a pint and some scratchings on the way home. Great day out.

It’s not looking. Sat in the car questioning my decision 😬

It’s my friendand John’s birthday today and we try to make our presents for each other. It’s getting a bit tricky to think of something different, we’ve been friends for a long time.
This year he’s got chocolate honeycomb, chocolate dipped flapjack and a big slab of Parkin. 🍽️

We’re off to Luds Church tomorrow for a walk and lunch. It’s a famous landmark on my doorstep that I’ve never visited for some reason.
The deep, moss-covered chasm is 18m deep and 100m long.
Just hoping the weather stays good.

As Autumn creeps further in and foliage starts to die back, I’m noticing how much moss there is in the garden. It’s flipping everywhere 🟢
