Sometime film blogger from Manchester. Other topics: music, books, football, cricket.
Hoping to see Jay Kelly this week. I could go today but there are limited options with everywhere showing Wicked so much. Peter Bradshaw in The Guardian gave JK one star! However in his review he said he thought White Noise was good. I thought it was dreadful, so maybe I'll like it. #filmsky 📽️🎬

I’ve gone from not enjoying the cricket to enjoying the cricket in the space of an hour, who knew that sport could be like this, with fortunes changing back and forth over a period of time

We are relieved that Nigel's case is over & feel he was lucky to not get a more severe sentence.

Got two days off now! I've stuck on City That Never Sleeps (1953), my next #Noirvember entry. Saw this still from it online the other day and couldn't resist! #filmsky 📽️🎬

Plan for today: read in bed, snack, go for a canal walk, meet my family for a roast, come home to watch a film, go to bed. Solid.

Went to see The Running Man. Never saw the original adaptation, and perhaps if I had I might have appreciated this more, but it felt like a bit of a mess, and as though it lasted about half an hour longer than it actually did. #filmsky 🎬📽️

Not sure that will have poured oil on troubled waters, I must say.
This afternoon my wife in her discontent sent me a letter, which I am in a quandary what to do, whether to read it or not, but I purpose not, but to burn it before her face, that I may put a stop to more of this nature.

My next book group book is The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers. I've started reading it over the last few days. I'm slowly finding my way into it. Its prose is quite sparse and there's a definite emphasis on character over plot but I like that kind of thing. #booksky 📚

At my book group last night we talked about The Fallen Idol by Graham Greene. It's always published with The Third Man - both stories were adapted into excellent films by Carol Reed. I feel The Fallen Idol is if not underrated, certainly under-seen, but it's one of my faves. #booksky #filmsky 📽️🎬
