How much do you bench? 💪 So many groups have been taking the initiative and building benches so that folks waiting for transit have places to wait. These photos came to us from Strong Towns Baton Rouge!

I can't help wondering what proportion of the spoils/ Gavin votes were just men wanting to have a man to vote for? Is that what they mean when they said there was no one there to represent them? #Áras2025

From a research interview....

"Somebody said to me, road engineers...if they were to build a house, it would be all corridors."

It's a good line, and also probably quite relevant to what we currently prioritise in developing environments to support walking & cycling in urban areas.

This great video also reminded me of an interesting facet of motonormativity: people can lose 100 hours a year in traffic and never notice; but they have one late train and it's all "Never again - you can't rely on them"
"Everything you thought you knew about roads is a lie" GCN go hard on induced demand and all the other follies linked to road building www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVq7...

As a parent I love walkable neighbourhoods cause the kids can get places themselves. No big conspiracy, I’m just tired.

After I got my driver's license, the bike was dead to me. Fast forward a few decades, add a few trips to the Netherlands, and I returned to two wheels for my physical and mental health.

Bikes don’t fix everything, but active transportation is a medicine that pays dividends in multiple ways.

Could a city with a similar population to Galway ever reduce road deaths to zero in a single year? It sounds unfeasible, but it can be done.

What is it about active travel infrastructure that emboldens some of our worst citizens?
What some Council officers have had to endure when they've been working on proposed #activetravel schemes is terrible.

Love learning nuggets like this. Each of our streets is so unique with it's own stories of how they were shaped
There's this street in Limerick that feels spiritually American. The area nearby is called New Town Pery, designed by Christopher Colles in 1700's, he went on to help design New Yorks grid system. That might be why. But this Don Delillo book cover photo is the exact vibe I'm talking about
