Apologies if these are a bit out of order. Kazos told me she felt blindsided bc she did not know Kaplan was even interested in running the story until it was published and folks messaged her congratulating her on having HER reporting printed in @propublica.org.

@jenpsaki.bsky.social your input on Kazos’ accusation that ProPublica used her investigative reporting w/o credit would be welcome. Kazos claims she didn’t know they were going run the story until people were messaging her “Congrats on ProPublica running your story!” She wasn’t paid or credited.

I’m particularly concerned because a woman independent journalist who has been covering this for months is not receiving credit, is struggling to pay her bills, and @propublica.org will make huge amounts of $$ off this story and the authors will get more work, while Kazos sits in obscurity.
