It's tricky to absorb 2 contradictory facts about Trump:
1) It's a bad omen for U.S. democracy that Trump won fair and square.
2) Trump's victory was narrow and his party has razor-thin margins in Congress.
#1 doesn't change #2. He's still a weak president with a weak coalition.

Nah, it’s both more nuanced and simpler than that.
The FOP represents a reconstituted Confederate army, and the Capitol Police are Union soldiers, at least in the context of 1/6.
That we call both of them “police” is misleading and unhelpful in terms of clarifying reality.
