I thought I'd come back to Bluesky today to bring you some spooky fun.....

On the gardening theme, my herb garden is also flourishing, particularly the mint. Mojitos and mint teas for everyone. If anyone has any other good recipes then send them my way.

My strawberries have grown really well this year considering they were half dead and dug up from last year. A little nurturing and safe environment goes a long way.

I'm glad I'm not an 'apple person' the new liquid glass design is not good unless their user research showed that people wanted to be spooked by 'ghost apps' then they've nailed it 👻

I recently received an email that was signed off '...Without Malice...(persons name)' and 2 things I took from that:
1. I like their style and may use myself
2. Feel like there definitely was some malice

Until about a year ago I was totally anti e-reader, now I carry this ancient, beat up Kindle with a light contraption everywhere and refuse to get a new one. #Kindle #Books

I've not been on here a while as the person I usually interacted with isn't around anymore and every time I opened the app I felt a bit glum.
Today I'm missing it a bit so here I am.
Nothing exciting to report, so there's that.

I wasn't going to post anything about the passing of my dear friend, because I'm so very sad. However, I've taken such comfort in reading all the lovely things about her today and I also wanted to remind people that it's ok to be sad, it's ok to take time to be sad, especially at times like this.

Thanks for all the love on my little advent calendar project, I still have some space for content if anyone would like to contribute a digital accessibility related article
(read did not think was going to be as popular as it has been and not fast enough at writing 🤣)

This week I've been practicing my coding and made a little accessibility resource. It's far from perfect but wanted to share (sorry it's a day late) accessibility-advent.lorithomson.co.uk

I have a lot of different coloured pens, I tend to hold them when I take notes on Teams calls and sometimes they are visible to others in my hand. Sometimes I like to quickly swap the pen during calls more than once, to see if people notice. So far they haven't and it feels like my little secret.

I wanted to share ‘Beta’ release of my QuizA11y ‘Accessibiliy Quiz App’. www.quiza11y.com

Still lots of work to do and it’s far from perfect. I created it to help me learn when more easily with an element of gamification.

We put our Christmas decorations up today, my house looks like a 90s Santa's grotto. My favourite is my angel tree topper which I think is from early 1970s.
Most of the decorations have been inherited or collected over the years, recent additions are mainly McDonald's Christmas Happy Meal toys 🤣

Finished reading Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir (who wrote The Martian which is also a movie) last night.
Set in the near future, school science teacher turned astronaut tries to save earth, a great story of selflessness and cooperation.
Loved this best book I've read this year 10/10 #BookReviews

Tonight I'm attempting to make an accessibility advent calendar using the prototype kit. I haven't done anything like this for a while so potentially will be crap.
Thought I should plan something festive though for training purposes.

I recently read Our Wives Under The Sea by Julia Armfield. This was a tricky one, I'm not 100% if I enjoyed it or not but it stayed with me. A supernatural horror story focused on a lesbian couple navigating the aftermath of a trip under the sea. 6/10 mainly because it ended abruptly. #BookReview

Going to watch the rest of the #TechSharePro2024 recordings tomorrow and over the weekend. I enjoyed it thoroughly and has inspired me a bit. Well done to those who have organised and spoke at it.
