Llamas are neat.
If small scale thorium actually turns out, sure. I'm not really counting it yet but it's promising and I am 100% in support of putting money into exploring it.

Just saying it is already possible for many single family homes in the US to run almost entirely on solar for most of the year

Unfortunately with the public it has something of the airplane effect.

People are way less motivated by a bunch of highly contained and localized fatalities than by the threat of a flashy disaster however rare.

It's something we need to change before the political leverage will materialize

I'd love for thorium and smaller modular reactors to gain more traction

there's a few ways where both of those things feel like there's a bit of hot air inflating the claims which has me skeptical of them making up a major share

We do desperately need updated regs though

With respect to the grid as a whole, yes.

I truly believe though that it is wholly feasible for rural and many suburban areas to be very sustainable with even "unstable" localized generation.

I'm speaking aside from extended inclement weather or major disasters

Nuclear will be absolutely necessary as a baseline especially for dense metros and industrial regions

But with improving storage and localized small scale generation improving (eg, home solar), I hope we get to the point where most residential grids don't need significant external power.

In a healthy democracy, these party leaders would have been out on their asses 20+ years ago instead of just forcing us to watch as they physically rot into decrepitude

While I get the sentiment and I think you should keep that energy up especially regarding the latter half, unlike the GOP I'm not in the business of starving people even if they are corrupt worms

NEVER believe what the cops say. Get the video or investigate.....cops will lie every single time. Bovino even admitted he lied in court!

We demand a Conclave! Send white smoke out of a chimney when a budget is passed. Until then, lock the chamber door.

This is basically my pitch. Obvious amenities like bathroom and medical attention aside nobody leaves the room until the budget is passed

Meanwhile, until a new budget is passed, we keep status quo of the previous.

Insulate everyone else from their incompetence

Oh my god. I read the first few paragraphs and I can't tell if I should be on the floor laughing or crying.

Honestly I have a hard time understanding how everyone in that room other than the CBP officers, prosecution included, isn't maximally pissed off by the whole ordeal.

Like this whole bit would barely made local papers if at all. Hell most local precincts would debate even reporting the incident.

While the government prosecutes this case “in some purported effort to keep law enforcement safe and free from food fights,” CBP employees “are joking about it.” The gov, she says, is trying to turn a “gag-gift worthy moment into a federal criminal offense. We ask you not to allow them to do that.”
