Since the BMA and Government are arguing over pay, this suggestion from The Royal Statistical Society published in FT Letters page is worth considering.
In essence, it suggests to BMA to replace its use of RPI as a basis for wage demands and instead use a new method.
Interesting. #r4today

It’s difficult on first impression - when I first saw Damien Hurst’s Mother and Child Divided, I just couldn’t take it in as art.
Yet now it’s kind of iconic, albeit still weird (to me).
So maybe we should judge them in a decade’s time? #r4today

By 2030, a full-time salary on the minimum wage would almost reach the student loan repayment threshold.
For those on living wage, it will exceed it.

As a regular visitor to Switzerland, the flag is everywhere - outside homes and allotments(?), on ferries and trains, on mountains (yes!) and maps - it is a symbol of pride.
I cannot see anything wrong with that. 🇨🇭

This is a long read on the need for pension reform from the IFS.
But it needs reading by Government.
Too much of the current system is unsustainable, and we cannot go on burying our heads in the sand forever.

Will be interesting to hear the different perspectives. #r4today

This is a fascinating read. It describes in detail how children’s literature is a modern idea, with so many of the fairy story classics we know today originally written for adults, often with macabre deaths and triumphs for baddies (long since sanitised).
Eg Cindrilla - it didn’t end well for her! 😮

Typical of you to only care about if PLP will be happy with the spending plan, Rachel.
The public need to see what the c.£20-30bn spending gap actually is first. You're promising not to add to borrowing, so let's see just how high the tax increases are going to be to close the gap. #bbcpm

Another outstanding piece by Martin Wolf in the FT on European fractured politics.

“ The [competitive] fragmentation that made its states powerful and rich is, in the New World, a barrier to their remaining so.”

Thank you, Rachel Reeves for being honest with the people in your Downing St speech this week.
You didn’t fake it, you were authentic. You just trotted out your usual word salad, adding nothing to what we didn’t already know and not scaring the horses in the City by being inspiring or directional. 👏

It turns out that the way to tackle peanut allergies is to feed them to children in early life.
Peanut allergy prevalence has dropped 43% in 10 years in US, since its national guidance began advising this early exposure.
Gotta love scientific research!
