Trump says Europe is "decaying".
Is that worse than what Mario Draghi, former Italian PM and ex President of ECB said in 2024? 🤔

"This year will be remembered as the year in which this illusion [of equal standing in global trade and geopolitics with US and China] evaporated.”

Why do we need a state owned rail ticket purchase app?! There are plenty already.
What we actually need is a national rail Oyster card, like many other countries have had for years. #r4today

Even as a fan of long words(!), using “obesogenic” isn’t helpful, Professor.
If you’re serious about changing public trends in food provision and the environment around it, you’re going to need more lay language to get your message across. #r4today

Lammy’s plan to remove jury trials from a few thousand defendants of alleged serious crime is going to cause a knock on problem.
It will streamline those who are convicted, (most of whom will get a jail term), into our already overflowing prisons. #bbclaurak #bbcbh #r4today

The really stupid thing about this is that the EU needs economic growth just as much as the UK does. So any single policy demand that, in practice, has very little economic growth attached should not risk souring a broader deal.
Dumb. #r4today #bbclaurak
In a further breakdown of EU-UK rapprochement, EU is now insisting that there should be no limit on the number of students using the Youth Mobility Scheme, allowing EU students on UK universities. It also demands access at UK fees.

That is not going to happen.

@eddwilson.bsky.social I finally have a definitive answer for you about how many people are affected by the salary sacrifice pension changes.
The answer is that 7.7m people use the scheme, and of those 3.3m put in more than the £2,000 cap and so will be affected.

Streeting has launched a review into the rising numbers of people diagnosed with a mental health disorder.
“We must look at this through a strictly clinical lens,” he said.
You will see, Wes, that the definitions of what is a disorder have changed and therefore so have their prevalence. #bbcpm

Time for a positive plug for using AI.
If you need to write/email to someone formally - a complaint, a notification, an application for a job, a set of minutes for an Association you volunteer for, a newsletter etc.
Ask AI to help you structure it - you will get a better outcome.
Try it. #r4today

It’s boom time in copper mining, trying to maintain supply for the green transition.
Ironic that copper mining is one of the dirtiest industries of all, emitting huge amounts of sulphur, something that does not deter leading providers Peru, Chile and China.

The Budget is likely to have an interesting effect - a new version of a ‘K’ shaped economy.
Normally this refers to wealthy people’s income growing most, whilst low income earners decline.
But this Budget has targeted middle income earners to foot the bill.
It’s a risky strategy. #r4today
