I just received a Christmas present, marked as a gift of £30 value, from the UK. French Douanes taxed me €16 on it. €16 on a €34 gift!

Fuck Brexit sideways!

It's not surprising people complain about the US postal service. 9 days from Nogales, AZ to Compton, CA. Who knows when it'll finally leave the US and get to Europe!

Newmarket MP Matt Hancock gave a £37bn Covid testing contract to Jockey Club director Dido Harding, who subcontracted it to Grand National sponsor Randox, employer of Tory MP Owen Paterson, whose late wife chaired Aintree racecourse. That's how the Tories handled the pandemic.

Can we just call the US "plan" for #Ukraine what it is - "Munich 2"? At least the Munich accord wasn't written by or on behalf of an asset of the German government.

If we haven't been able to get together to stop Putin now, what will we do when he breaks the agreement and invades Estonia?

This new asylum policy from labour is vile and betrays labour values. It ignores the reality of refugee peoples’ lives, aspirations, families… it betrays our obligations to help the most vulnerable and IT WILL NOT DETER SMALL BOATS.

It’s a grim day.

For the love of Zeus - who gives a dam how gender is defined (perhaps just leave it up to individual states for once).

Just fix the climate change! #cop30

Keir Starmer last week defended his U-Turns on disability benefits as being "common sense", having listened to the "concerns" of Labour MPs.

Now some of the very Labour MPs who expressed those concerns and demanded those "common sense" changes are being suspended

When excellent MPs stand up for what’s right and then get suspended by their party we should be very worried. Chris Hinchliff has been a staunch defender of nature and is far closer to the public view than the prime minster. Such arrogance 😡. Great quote here from Craig Bennett, agree 💯 .

@financialtimes.com Please can we stop calling dictators like Erdoğan, Putin, Xi, Lukashenko "strongmen". They're weak, feeble bullies who cower when they're called names like "Winnie-the-Pooh"; censor so people won't learn the truth; imprison/assassinate opponents rather than argue with them; ...

Anyone who still thinks that the USA is a reliable ally, who still thinks that the EU was wasting money developing EGNOS instead of relying on GPS, or who still thinks that Trump/Vance are anything other than schoolyard bullies, has not been paying attention, is stupid, or is a Russian stooge.
