So…this is a new error message for me. Gotta say, I admire Windows’ nonchalance here—and its quiet optimism.

UPDATE: it turned out rather nice. Even the teens ate it, although, full disclosure, one of them pronounced it “bland.”

I dunno what the hell I’m doing, but in theory this is gonna be dinner.

My little purple commuter town had 537 protesters—almost enough for an electoral college—at today’s #HandsOff rally. The supporting honks far outnumbered the disapproving gunned engines…unfortunately one passerby was so busy gunning his engine he rear-ended another driver.

I just got a delivery from Penzey’s Spices and between the nice cozy box, the crinkly paper, and the scents, Ginger is ALL kinds of interested.

This is a cute animal checkpoint. All traffic must stop and present a cute animal before proceeding. Travelers are permitted to review cute animals while waiting to be processed.

Quote with your current read: Comedy of Terrors, by Lindsey Davis. I fell behind Davis' Flavia Albia series when my wife and I got out of the habit of reading these aloud--kids ate up our free time. Now they're older, we're picking them up again I hope?

Hey, remember Thursday Night Throwbacks? That was a thing I did for a while. I’ve been trying to recover some old photos lately, and I managed to get this throwback to October 2004, when I was a newlywed. I think this may be the best jack-o’lantern I ever carved.

Is that a Fukumaru tree/pod? I like their wall mounted furniture but have been hesitant to get a pod. (Nimbus tax)

On an unrelated note, hey, I guess I can post videos now?

We're overdue for a Thursday night (er, afternoon) throwback. March 2007, having just signed a lease and about to move in. Teeny cracker-box house, two bedrooms, washer/dryer hookups in the kitchen and no dishwasher. Great for us as a childless couple; we moved before firstborn came along.

I'm reminded of the Perry Bible Fellowship strip...

Thursday night throwback: May 2016, this must have been the start of summer vacation. (Yes, summer vacation starts super early in Georgia; we make up for it by starting school again in August.) visiting my mom and the kids raided her costume jewelry and scarves to play dress-up.

Thursday night throwback: my parents on vacation in 2003. Dad passed last November, and tomorrow I’ll be hosting his memorial service.

Thursday night throwback, eclipse week edition: in 2017 we stayed with cousins in South Carolina and, so help me, went to Bob Jones University to view totality. The day before, the kids made their own t-shirts, using fabric paint and a paper plate for a stencil.

Thursday night throwback: St. Patrick's Day, 2007. We were about to move from an apartment into a house (signed the lease the next day). I prepared the traditional Irish breakfast of green eggs, green grits, bacon, and tea.

Thursday night throwback: summer 2015, kid#1 at the airport after a visit with my parents. No points for guessing what state my parents live in.

I’ve been champing at the bit to get an electric car for a while. Today I learned (via carboncounter.com) that my hybrid (#2) is actually…not too shabby. We should definitely replace spouse’s car (#1) first.

Thursday night throwback: it was four years ago this week that our part of the world went into COVID lockdown. We optimistically set up all our workspaces (2 professionals, 2 elementary schoolers) around the dining room table. As I recall, this arrangement was scrapped before it was ever used.
