Don't insult my profession like that.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll open it up again and replace them as soon as the parts come in. I was so excited I got it working again I couldn't wait to put it back together and jam.

Why bother asking? The answer is always yes.

Hi! You have good eyes. They are! I noted it and left them for now. Problem seemed to be elsewhere. Do you think it would be best to replace them? I wasn't sure what the threshold for concern is with that sort of thing. The top one is practically inverted, whereas these are just a bit proud.

It sorta feels like people are just inclined to throw away "broken" stuff and buy new. My roommate even suggested it. I think it comes from the assumption that things can't be fixed anymore. Shipping is also so ungodly expensive for mortals.

Yeah, intel seems to be that build, design, and QC on this brand has a very mixed reputation. It's mass production all the way. I'm not knocking them. I love ours. They've done well for four years. Granted, they haven't been abused. Anyway, I think that could work in your favor!

Yeah even the 8s are almost too much for us. We did a backyard/courtyard Halloween party in Long Beach last year that attracted someone from two blocks away who happened to be walking their dog 😆

The Heritage Foundation are clowns, and I aim to personally "contribute" to a reckoning the likes of which they've never seen in the coming midterms and 2028. I mean the kind of contribution that takes my own time and money. If you're reading this, I hope you feel the same.

I'm white, and after only a brief search, I'm sorta offended you limited yourself to "contributed". Did you know this guy, Frederick McKinley Jones, invented automatic truck refrigeration? Don't rage-bait me like that. He was even born near my own birth city.

Lol I can't count, apparently

Separately from my nerd rant, I just realized you want 10s! Those must be huge!!!

During research I found examples of people having problems with "black gunk" inside your model there. Could've be electrolytic from burnt caps, but it was a lot. I think it's some kind of glue or vibration dampener KRK used. I think they share schematics for older models. 3/3

It occurred to me that if one were looking for a pair, a speaker or two with this problem (but good cones/drivers) on Ebay or similar might be a steal! 2/3

Do you dabble in electronics? These are my roomie's speakers. One of them stopped worked (stuck in standby mode). I'm no expert. I opened it open with a multimeter, and I was surprised how manageable it was. The circuitry seems overwhelming but you're only looking for what's burnt. 1/2

I think I'm some approximation of what normal ought to be. Do with that what ye will
November 5, 2025 at 6:32 AM
Jokes on you! I used to use exclamation points all the time. People thought I was cheery and personable! Now I do still do, and people just think I'm "normal"! 🥴
