A harsh reality that I struggle to accept. “Fishes” still sounds weird to me, even if I know it’s right.
“Fish” can refer to a single individual, or multiple individuals from the same species.

“Fishes” refers to multiple species.

Weekend #FishPuke. This largemouth bass puked up a few soft plastic baits after I caught it. I pick up a few dozen of these baits off of lake bottoms each year, and apparently bass do too!

Who does this??? Enough people doubt science as it is 😅
You can't make this up: a researcher friend just had a paper rejected because the result was statistically non-significant. The editor said to try out different stats to get the p-value <0.05. That's NOT how science works. Non-significance is a legit result that is worth being communicated.

So many anglers in the Great Lakes region are shocked to hear that not all lampreys are invasive.
2-for-1 special! A few weeks ago, we caught a lake sturgeon with a bonus silver lamprey attached to it. Unlike their invasive cousins (sea lamprey) in the Great Lakes, this native species evolved to live in balance with various host species. #52FishyFridays 🐟🐠🌎
