Our new paper in Ecology Letters, led by Jan Divíšek, shows that non-invasive alien plant species that successfully establish within local plant communities tend to resemble the resident native species. In contrast, invasive alien species usually differ from native plants.

NEW data | Less than 50% of Australia's electricity generation came from fossil fuels in October 🇦🇺⚡️

This was the first month ever where renewables have overtaken fossil fuels in Australia's electricity mix.

10 years ago, in October 2015, fossil fuels made up 86%.

Mosquitoes were introduced to Hawaii on ships c. 1826. Non-native birds acted as a reservoir for the pathogen in lowland areas as native birds (which lacked immunity) became limited to high altitude forests. Climate change allowed mosquitoes to colonize higher elevations.
