@lacey-wootton.bsky.social Great minds think alike, yeah?
If you have tenure at Texas A&M and aren't maliciously emailing the president a dozen times every day to ask if you can say this or you can say that, then what's the point in having tenure?

Important deaths: death of free speech; death of expertise; death of freedom of assembly; death of consensus on the evil of murder; death of science; death of scholarly inquiry; death of empathy; death of democracy.

Jimmy Kimmel didn't kill Charlie Kirk. But Kirk's death has set the terms by which McFascist thinks he can punish people whenever and however harshly he feels like it. He already thought that, but this makes it easier. And McFascist's glee about this cuts directly against his supposed grief.

Reading about pouchy Vance leading the charge against a supposed network of leftists inciting violence, I am reminded of the apocryphal story of the frogs in gradually heating water.

This is another one of those "conceding the frame" problems. By arguing that crime is worse in the states that are sending National Guard troops to DC, we're conceding the connection between the National Guard and law enforcement.

The National Guard has nothing to do with policing. Full stop.
