These AI voice overs are atrocious though.

I remember explaining to a few friends that, regardless of what part of the industry, entertainment was gonna get hit hard by Gen Ai.

I was told “NAH! Look at how BAD Gen Ai is right now! It’ll take 10 years or more for it to be used!”

That conversation was 2 years ago & everything is Gen Ai now.

That's disgusting. The anime came out in 2018, nobody was expecting an English dub in the first place! They've just tacked this shit on because they can. I wonder how many other shows/movies have been affected by this?

AI dubs have reached the level of appearing in a 'worst video game voice acting' compilation made in 2008 in Windows Movie Maker.

The English dub of Ghost Stories is better than this...

Amazon Prime used AI to dub a few Korean dramas to Latam Spanish and everyone hated the dub. VAs mocked the company stating dubbing stuff with real humans is already so cheap cuse everyone is paid peanuts that ruining their brand to save 1 dollar made zero sense.

Make ALL AI extremely unprofitable to make the bubble burst so hard it bankrupts these companies as their investments will have backfired extremely hard.

It's very clear that the usage of AI for voice over is never an "improvement" but a cost-cutting measure for corporations to save money. With that, subs will become the "inferior option" if the voices you'll get are a bunch of robots. 🤷

The problem with the "subs are the superior option" strawman: there ARE other companies who would take advantage of AI in the worst ways possible. You will end up shooting yourselves in the foot when those Japanese voices would be AI-generated.
