1987 - according to comments on this Facebook post, this bracket arm holding up the trolley wire was the last remaining one of those Philadelphia (and can be seen in Street View imagery as recently as 2016!)

Also the penguins just lost control over the site, so hopefully something happens soon but I wouldn’t hold my breath. The Hill has been very slow to redevelop over the decades, although there’s been more subsidized infill recently. This article is worth a read www.post-gazette.com/business/dev...

The Hill District’s most expensive townhomes have yet to find a buyer five months after they went up for sale and despite recent price cuts. The...

Fwiw this rendering is very out of date as the FNB building is quite different from what is in this rendering and there’s also a venue now as well I think. One of the parcels was given to a church that was evicted originally for affordable housing development www.wesa.fm/development-...

I have no idea actually but my understanding is they would probably just use the existing PennDOT row for the 65 expressway and reconfigure it to be less of a wall separating the neighborhood engage.pittsburghpa.gov/state-route-...

This system would make a little more sense if they didn’t use even the longer distance routes for local service in Camden. It’s insane stopping every half block in Camden with a coach bus!

Whatever happened to the NJT bus revolution for south jersey? I don’t even think we got draft plans for that.

The only thing coming up really is the university line and I think the bike lane improvements are more impressive than the transit. Which is great! But they should be doing this across the system not just one bus line. At least POGOH is expanding and DOMI is pretty good, it’s not all bad

It’s rough! I have old schedules from the 80s-00s that are so sad to look at lol. The number of variations they used to run on almost every route was crazy. It was all very peak commuter oriented still but the coverage was insane compared to now.

I couldn't agree more about the name. I've been ranting about them not making it Pittsburgh Area Transit since they renamed it lol. Having the system officially be named what everyone still calls it anyway would have been great, and the "Regional" is misleading for sure!

I didn’t look too close but I did find this little gem in the text of the bill for Act 89. Maybe someday they’ll really put the regional in Pittsburgh Regional Transit. Im still mad they didn’t make it Pittsburgh Area Transit (PAT) Not only is it more accurate its also consistent with the old name!

It's really understated how much their transit advocacy group exists at odds with the agency as much in a crisis as SEPTA and how much more dire the consequences will be for them as a result
November 29, 2025 at 5:47 AM
It’s so much worse in many ways, unlike SEPTA ridership hasn’t returned since the pandemic, and PRT already went through their doomsday service cuts twice in 2007 and 2011. There isn’t a lot left to cut, and it feels even more hopeless than SEPTA at this point.

If you split this version of the 89 into 2 routes it would actually be good. I wonder if they ran those little 30 ft buses on it?

Bring back the Master/Jefferson branch!!!

I mean it works fine because if you only tap when getting on at a RR station and don’t tap off it charges you the maximum fare, which is the New Jersey fare. So you could install the card readers but it’s not necessary since they check fares on the train anyway.

It’s crazy there’s less awareness about how economically the south outside of like Atlanta and a few cities in North Carolina is pretty much the rust belt. Birmingham was called the Pittsburgh of the south for a reason!

This isn’t Pittsburgh!

Now we have no hope, no jobs, no regional rail, and no John.

Install speed cameras on Kelly and Lincoln drives. It’s really the least that can be done if we’re going to have Kelly drive open to through traffic. Lights at brewery hill and reservoir drive should be top priorities for the city.
