Who has the responsibility of acting on the forecast? Not the NWS. It comes down to state and county agencies. I can imagine that no one wants to be the boy who cried wolf on the busiest weekend of the year.

There also needs to be recognition that consciously or unconsciously, the folks who now "distrust experts" especially on climate, delay precautionary action as a social result of that internalized prejudice. (Then blame those experts for not getting alarms past the new cognitive barriers.)

Trump’s poll numbers are tanking. His bill is failing. His birthday parade flopped, overshadowed by 5 million No Kings protestors. Now he’s bombing Iran. Ask: Why now? Who benefits? What’s the endgame? War isn’t strength, it’s desperation wrapped in a flag. 🌓☀️
