@padilla.senate.gov @schiff.senate.gov if the Dems are going to cave tonight, what even is the point of this party? You get major victories on Tuesday and throw them in the garbage on Sunday? Really incentives people to donate and activate for the Dems.

I am no longer employed so I'm not blogging Zohran tonight but I can just repeat exactly what I said in June :-)

he won on the back of a pro-migrant, pro-trans, pro-working class campaign. and also: Dem pundits are full of shit

Zohran Mamdani did something different, and it made all the difference.

Perpetual reminder that cops and vampires are the same - never let them in your home on your own free will.
Border Patrol “attempted to arrest a plumber working inside a Logan Heights home but left empty-handed after the homeowner refused them entry.

The homeowner told agents she would not allow them inside because the warrant they presented did not include her address and lacked a judge's signature.”
Federal immigration operations target San Diego neighborhoods, sparking community resistance
Federal immigration agents conducted operations in Logan Heights and Southeast San Diego on Friday, with community members capturing footage of the enforcement actions.

Got the whole family Covid and flu shots, dropped off my ballot for #YesonProp50, and picked up books from the library. All after work and done in time for dinner. Fighting fascism one small errand at a time.

Once again, Grady Hendrix has written a book filled with supernatural thrills and deep, thoughtful, well-researched social commentary. Highly recommend this book for spooky season in this fucked up world we live in. It may be fiction, but the monsters are real.

Make concentration camps a banned land use
NEW: Six people detained in California’s newest + largest ICE facility speak out, saying they are confined in filthy cells, struggling to access basic medications, going hungry due to insufficient food, drinking dirty water, and faced with “military-like” staff.

Really love watching the military crop dust my kids’ elementary school with jet exhaust so they can practice for their little plane sky dance this weekend otherwise known as the air show. Added bonus is possible hearing damage from all the noise. So fun.

Every month my spouse looks for ways to cut back expenses and asks if we can cancel HBO. I always say no because @lastweektonight.com. If that show is gone, so is my subscription. Makes me wonder how many of these execs realize that people subscribe to their service for one, maybe 3 shows.

San Diego area folks - Rep. Issa is doing his same old bullshit. This time he wants to take away your consumer protections and let more people rip you off and steal from you. As always, he’s a spineless twerp who hides from the public but might be worth a call to his office.
Reps. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., and Rob Wittman, R-Va., and Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, have all voted for cuts to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Yet collectively, they’ve routed more than 1,000 constituent complaints to the agency, ProPublica found.
These GOP Lawmakers Referred Constituents to the CFPB for Help. Then They Voted to Gut the Agency.
Many of the same Republican lawmakers who have targeted the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau for cuts have collectively directed thousands of constituents’ complaints about banks, credit cards,…

Like an oasis in the desert, it is so refreshing to hear @repjasmine.bsky.social put this situation in such clear language. “They can’t win fair, so they cheat.” Precisely.
We should have the House right now. Let me say it again: we should have the House.

This ain’t just a Texas problem, it’s a national problem. They’re stealing seats to keep power, and that’s how we ended up with Speaker Johnson instead of Speaker Jeffries.

They can’t win fair, so they cheat.

President Trump’s order criminalizing homelessness is cruel and doesn’t solve the housing crisis.

People need housing, not fines and court orders.
