A little bit of history worth knowing. If it’s history, they are trying to wipe it out, to make room for the absurd tales of eternal innocence that bring fascism and bloodshed closer.
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

“We've been very mindful of other treaties that have already happened and to draw from those experiences, particularly from British Columbia and the Native American groups, and to be able to learn from that about what's worked and what hasn't worked.”

Australia to sign treaty with its Indigenous population, giving them more say
Australia's first treaty with its Indigenous peoples will be signed in the state of Victoria this month. It will give First Nations more say on laws and policy affecting them.

In late 80s I was social worker in Houston working in Verification unit for food stamps. Made unannounced home visits to verify applicants were qualified &had reported all income etc. Unit was dismantled because cost more to run than were recovering. Very little fraud. So many myths/lies about SNAP
As SNAP hangs in the balance for nearly 42 million people, misinformation is rampant. Myths of laziness and fraud persist when we should be talking about too low wages for workers, income inequality, and our threadbare social safety net.

In this guest post, Adam Chandler sorts fact from fiction:
SNAP benefits feed essential needs while still leaving many hungry for more
Journalist and author Adam Chandler explains what so much of the conversation about them gets wrong.

If SNAP (aka food stamps) runs out of funding on Nov 1 due to the government shutdown, over 1 million Native Americans could lose their benefits. That is 24% of Native American households.

I did not realize how I was actually related to members of my mom’s family until her best friend starting asking questions at my grandmother‘s funeral. To me, they were all aunts/uncles and cousins.
Wait, are people really upset that Mamdani spoke about his “aunt,” and it was actually his father’s cousin and not his father’s sibling?

Because that is an extremely normal thing a lot of cultures do. Including a lot of large Jewish families!
In a bit of a tense moment, one of the La Mega co-hosts presses Mamdani on why he "lied" about his "aunt" having been scared to ride the subway after 9/11 while wearing a hijab.

Mamdani says it was "not a lie" because he refers to his father's cousin as his "aunt."

ICE is stockpiling arms, including chemical weapons, guided missile warheads and explosive components. The spending dwarfs anything we've ever seen in the agency - a 700% increase.

The President is building an army to attack his own country.

I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.

Many people are outraged that Trump is demolishing part of the White House. But of course Trump can't do it without help. It's ACECO LLC of Silver Spring MD ("full-service demolition") that is tearing down the People's House. You can call them and let them know how you feel. 1/

What’s that? The sound of thousands of historic preservationists screaming in unison
Demolition crews began tearing down part of the White House to build Trump's long-desired ballroom — despite his pledge that construction of the addition wouldn't "interfere" with the existing building.

The addition costs $250 million. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

My response to the NYT’s “moderate to win” argument: The data shows the strategy is tapped out. Being seen as moderate by voters doesn’t boost votes, replacing every progressive with moderates would net 0 seats, and the graveyard of defeated D incumbents if full of moderates, not progressives.
The New York Times Argues “Moving to the Center Is the Way to Win.” But the Data Shows the Strategy Is Tapped Out.
Democrats already run moderates in nearly every swing district. It's not enough. A data-driven response to the case for centrism as a core electoral strategy.

Reminder that within the American legal system, tribal citizens are a political class. The tribal trust responsibility has a Constitutional foundation in treaty making, it’s not based on ethnic or racial classifications.
