I like learning new things and spending time outside with my family.
I don’t understand why we aren’t hearing more $trumpet jokes with the president pimping himself out every chance he gets. One of the other bitcoins promoted at tonight’s dinner is literally called $odom. If I read that in a novel, I’d think the writer was being too heavy handed with the symbolism.

The Stonewall Inn released a response to the National Parks Service removing the word transgender from the park outside of the Inn. A great reminder that we have to look after each other

This is where you go to tell the National Park Service to restore the word "transgender" in its entry on the Stonewall monument.

(Scroll down.)
Stonewall National Monument (U.S. National Park Service)
Before the 1960s, almost everything about living openly as a lesbian, gay, bisexual (LGB) person was illegal. The Stonewall Uprising on June 28, 1969 is a milestone in the quest for LGB civil rights a...

Yesterday my 6 year old lost a tooth. His grandma was visiting and he wanted to cuddle with her, but wanted to make sure he didn't miss the tooth fairy, so he left a note under his pillow that said "I'm sleeping with someone else."

If you want to see the opposite of “obeying in advance,” here it is. Remarkable bravery by Reverend Budde.
Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde to Trump: "I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian, and transgender people in Democratic, Republican, and independent families, some who fear for their lives ... and the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals"

I have been thinking a lot about how becoming more informed and aware over the next four years in a way that’s really useful might mean more books about history and less getting sucked into the daily firehose of bad news which is the present
I was raised in a multi-generational organizing family and I can say with firsthand knowledge that 20th century organizers read theory and they studied history and literature quite closely

The need to do that hasn’t changed

If studying history isn’t part of your organizing work, change that

Here’s me, a person currently driving a manual transmission and knowing that I will never, ever get to do it again after this car is gone.
what’s your favorite instance of haptic nostalgia—the poignant memory of the physicality of an obsolete thing—like dialing a rotary phone, shifting gears in a manual transmission, opening a soda can with a pull ring?

Had the opportunity to get certified in Mental Health First Aid today through Portland’s NET (Neighborhood Emergency Teams) program. What a wonderful complement to standard first aid curriculum and a fantastic resource for anyone who may come across another human in crisis (hint: that’s all of us).
